Class Read Aloud: Frindle by Andrew Clements
Date Started: We will begin this read-aloud the first full week of school (August 11th)!
Educational Purpose: Frindle offers rich opportunities for integrating reading/language arts, social-emotional learning, and classroom community building. Through Nick’s creative invention of a new word, students can explore vocabulary development, etymology, and how language changes over time. The story also encourages perseverance, respect for differing viewpoints, and constructive ways to handle conflict, allowing students to reflect on how personal actions can inspire change.
About Me
Hello and welcome to third grade!
My name is Kalynn Roy, and I’m so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! This will be my sixth year in education and my second year teaching third grade—a year full of growth, curiosity, and fun!
I was born and raised in Millbrook, Alabama, and now live in Prattville with my husband and our sweet one-year-old daughter, Lillian. When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time with my family, reading a good book, volunteering at my church, and enjoying the outdoors.
I truly believe that every child has the ability to learn and thrive when given the right support, encouragement, and opportunities. My goal is to create a positive and engaging classroom where students feel safe, challenged, and excited to learn.
I can’t wait to get to know your child and help them shine this year. Let’s make it a fantastic year together—Go Bulldogs!
