Ms.King

Hi, friends!

My name is Mrs. Tormey and I am so glad to have you in my class this year! If you were around PLES last year, you may know me as Ms. King. I got married over the summer, so I have a new last name! I met my husband through one of my favorite things ever--Hope Heals Camp! Volunteering there is always the best part of my summer!! Some other things I love include hiking, my goldendoodle, icecream, Lake Martin, and foster/adoption ministries. I can't wait to get to know all about what makes you special too!

This will be my second year teaching 4th grade at Pine Level, and I am so excited! I graduated from Liberty University with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach PreK-6th grade. If there is one thing you need to know about me, it's that people are my passion. As an educator, I aim to spark growth, purpose, and passion in each of my students. I believe that every student is special in their own way. I cannot wait to get to know your student over the next year and learn what is unique to them! I am excited to not only teach your student academics, but also what it means to be a class family. 4th grade is such a fun and special year--I look forward to what it has in store!

Important Reminders

STUDY GUIDES: Math study guides are always in your student's math workbook. I always give students time to work on their study guides in class! It is only homework if they do not complete it during class time.
SCHOOLOGY: All Schoology assignments are printed and completed on paper. Grades in Tuesday folder are marked at the top of the printed assignment. Answers are not marked wrong on the paper! Your student will be pulled to review their missed answers depending upon the assignment/grade. They can pull up the assignment on Schoology to see missed questions once all students have completed the assessment/assignment.
HOMEWORK: Your child will usually only have homework if they do not complete it in class. Your student is responsible for remembering their homework assignments and ensuring they are completed on time. They will always be given verbal reminders in class as well as a visual reminder on the board under "homework." Please help hold them accountable for being in charge of their own learning!
AL HISTORY/SCIENCE TESTS: All AL History tests are open notes and all Science tests are open book (except for vocab)! If your student is still failing these assessments, please remind them to listen in class as well as look carefully for each answer before submitting.
